Bruce retired in 2024 after 30-years in consulting in sustainability and climate change. He read Hannah Lewis’ book Mini-Forest Revolution about Akira Miyawaki’s approach to urban reforestation and he was hooked. Mini-forests brought together a number of interests including climate change, biodiversity, conservation and resiliency. Heavily influenced by Diana Beresford-Krueger’s writings trees became an immediate source of inspiration and their health became his principal motivation. The arborist business was incorporated in early 2025 and launched the same year. Bruce is responsible for business development and ground operations for the tree service.
Bradley (Brad) began his career in the automotive sector but following the Pandemic his interests shifted to the environment. He wanted to focus on local conservation efforts and trees and mini-forests were an excellent option. Brad’s first effort was to complete a major technology scan to identify tech that could be used to measure the performance of Miyawaki Mini-Forests and enable the public to monitor the forest’s progress. As an avid rock climber he embraced the opportunity to join Silent Tree Services as a principal and as the lead for canopy work. Brad is certified for working at heights and in the use and application of lifts in tree maintenance and removal.
